What kind of filter do you use?

Everyday we have the opportunity to speak words of love or words destruction. We have to make a conscience choice - do I want someone to feel good after I say this next thing or do I want them to feel poorly about themselves. If I want to them to feel poorly it is usually because I want to feel superior. There is nothing wrong with confidence and feeling good about yourself but when it comes at the expense of another person we have lost the filter in our mind.

James, the brother of Jesus and leader of the church in Jerusalem had this to say, "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness."

Our Life and Career Planning teaches clients that God made us with two ears and one mouth and we should use them in that proportion. In other words, become a good listener and you will be less likely to say something hurtful, failing to use a filter.
